Waterloo Regional Health Network
Network Engineer Co-op
**Role:** Network Engineer Co-op **Period:** September 2025 to December 2025 **Tools:** PowerShell, Bash, Active Directory, Remote Desktop
What I did
WRHN runs the IT infrastructure for a regional health system. I automated endpoint deployments, handled terminal-based support across the network, and documented the workflows that standardized how the team operated.
Endpoint imaging automation
The network had 100+ clinical endpoints that needed system deployment and imaging. I wrote PowerShell and Bash scripts to automate the process, replacing manual setup steps with repeatable, scripted deployments. This covered OS imaging, configuration, and validation for each endpoint.
Terminal support and troubleshooting
Day to day, I handled command-line troubleshooting for network authentication issues, Active Directory account problems, and remote desktop connectivity. The focus was on reducing ticket resolution time, and we brought it down 30% by resolving common issues through standardized terminal workflows rather than ad hoc fixes.
Documentation and standardization
I documented the command-line workflows that the team used most, turning tribal knowledge into written procedures. This made onboarding easier and ensured that common operations were handled consistently regardless of who was on shift.
